The Heart Behind the Logo: Lisa & Homer

Lisa was more than just a miniature poodle; she was a world traveler with a passport full of stamps and a spirit that brought us both smiles and tears. She saw the world alongside her lifelong companion, Homer. In Korea, the two of them climbed mountains and chased bunnies together. In Saudi Arabia, Lisa would sit with quiet focus under the date trees, waiting patiently for a date to fall so she could claim her prize.

Despite facing many surgeries, Lisa's resilience never wavered. She was a true poodle—full of personality, famous for her judgmental side-eye, and always ready for a road trip fueled by French fries. For nearly 15 years, Lisa and Homer were the center of our universe.

We created Bench Racers as a sanctuary for families and their dogs to hang out. While our logo features Lisa’s silhouette, the spirit of the shop belongs to both her and Homer. Though Homer’s life was taken from us far too brutally and unexpectedly, this space serves to honor the legacy of both our wonderful "fur babes."

Today, our guardian angels Sophie and Hobie—a mother-and-son duo—carry on their legacy. They have watched over every step of this station's restoration and are eager to welcome every "paw pal" who visits us at Bench Racers.
